Overview Tips
Virtual
Tour
A visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame is as explosive an
experience as the game itself. Whether you’re an avid hockey fan, a recreational
hockey player, a hockey mom, or a wannabe Gretzky, the hall
offers interactive entertainment for the whole family as you
to make your way through the many fun-filled Zones that
divide the hall.
In the Household
Family Zone, share the feeling of Hockey Night in Canada
when families gathered around the TV in the 1950s to watch
the Saturday night hockey game. The television set plays
footage of real hockey games and commercials. Relive the 6
a.m. scene, the time many families headed to morning
practices, or drop in on hockey’s famous families.
Eavesdrop
on the players in the full-scale Video Dressing Room Zone
of the Montreal Canadians.
Watch their pre-game rituals and routines, or get a
handle on the newest sports medicine.
The Marquee
Zone displays a collection of goalie masks from early
leather masks to the flamboyantly painted and sculpted masks
of today. At the Rink Zone, a live shooting booth
allows visitors a chance to compete with TV monitors. For a
small fee, you can don pads at the Impact Zone and
play at all levels against a video which fires sponge pucks
at you. Other Zones include the History Zone, the Broadcast
Zone, the Arena Zone and the North American
Zone.
If
all that action leaves you a little weary, relax and take in
a few films on the development of hockey in the two
theaters. But one experience that will stay with you is a
visit to the Great Hall. Here, in the 45-foot-high
banking hall under a resplendent stained glass dome, stands
the Stanley Cup, North America’s oldest hockey trophy. On
display behind the trophy are the biographies and portraits
of the members who have been honored in the Hockey Hall of
Fame. The Hockey Hall of Fame is wheelchair and stroller
accessible.
